Transnational Filipinx Diaspora Studies

The Transnational Filipinx Diaspora Studies Graduate Research Cluster brings together graduate students, researchers, faculty, and other interested participants to engage and collaborate on a shared study of the Philippines and the Filipino diaspora. This cluster focuses on the social, cultural, economic, and political implications of transnational settlements of Filipinx peoples. As more than a million Philippine overseas workers move throughout the Middle East, Asia, and North America while retaining Filipino citizenship, this research investigates Filipinx diaspora beyond the U.S.-Philippines binary and asks questions about race, decolonization, and labor.

Graduate students interested in these topics will have an opportunity to deepen their understanding, broaden their scope and analysis, and practice skills such as writing and presenting.
